Don’t overlook the laundry when selling. Buyers will scrutinize every room of a property that’s on the market and even though a laundry isn’t the most exciting room in a home, if its presented in the right way it can provide another reason to buy your home.
Clean it out – The laundry room can be a place where rubbish and cleaning products build up over time. Take time to clean up the laundry as much as possible and don’t forget to wipe down the washer and dryer. Make the area sparkles as much as possible and looks well cared for.
Brighten it up – In a small area like a laundry, a fresh coat of paint is an inexpensive way to portray a bright, clean room. If you don’t have a laundry room, painting can also help to designate a small area for laundry use.
Make it functional – At the end of the day a laundry needs to be able to be a functional space for cleaning and sorting clothes. To help make it appear more functional ensure that things like baskets and pegs have an appropriate space to live in and that there is enough storage for any other items in the room.
Add a bit of personality – There’s no reason why a laundry needs to be dull and sterile. Give it a bit of flair by adding fresh flowers, artwork or a nice rug.
Don’t forget the clothesline – If you have a clothesline then don’t forget to clean it up and make it presentable too. Fix up any rust or sagging, and put it down if possible before an open for inspection.
