With almost 50 years in the real estate industry under his belt, realtor Jim Cockburn has seen a lot of change in the Campbelltown property market – but now he is about to make a major change of his own.
Mr Cockburn and his team have joined the Professionals network after 16 years operating under the Century 21 banner.
The long-time local, who started his real estate career at nearby Ingleburn in 1972, had been contemplating the move for some time.
“The reality is that these days you have to be flexible in business and the Professionals Group provides us with the support we need to be just that,” said Mr Cockburn.
“There’s been a lot of change in the Campbelltown property market over a relatively short period, and it’s important that we are able to adapt to those changes if our business is to grow.”
Professionals Campbelltown remains a family affair for Mr Cockburn who works with wife Judy and their son Liam and daughter Kylie. They are part of a team of seven staff members in the agency who handle property sales and property management.
Mrs Cockburn, a licensed agent with 32 years’ experience in the real estate industry, has recently completed a law degree while working full-time as a real estate agent.
“We’ve seen a lot of change in the property market locally in the past decade or so, but the biggest changes have actually only occurred in the past five years with so many high rises being developed in the Campbelltown CBD.
“Three years ago, we had a lot of investors coming through because Campbelltown was about the only place in Sydney where you could buy a house for under $500,000. Now, we’re seeing a lot more owner occupiers, including first-home buyers and lifestyle buyers looking for apartments and the convenience of an urban lifestyle with cafes and entertainment facilities at their doorstep.”
Professionals Campbelltown began operating on April 1.
