A debate currently rages about how CPD fits in to a national scheme for real estate agents and it has forged strong opinions both for and against. Whichever stance you prefer, surely most business minded individuals would agree that the consumer must be considered before all others in the transaction and both legislation and learning programs should be based around providing the best quality service to those customers. For most people, real estate transactions are conducted only a handful of times during their lives and are often the single biggest financial decisions ever made.
Over the last few decades, the industry and many individuals, institutes and various associated bodies associated with the industry have worked tirelessly to improve the service provided to the public from the real estate sector and the obvious path is one of continual betterment or further understanding of every facet of the industry. It seems to have all been done in vain if many years later, the final outcome is to lower the ongoing personal development requirements for our industry, not increase it.
The Real Estate Industry Of Australia or REIA has produced a media release today stamping their feet firmly in the affirmative camp for an ongoing CPD program highlighting issues for agents navigating a complex legal mine field of differing jurisdictions and constantly changing laws around GST, OH&S, privacy, environmental guidelines and many more.
