The past week has been a milestone in the history of fundraising efforts by Professionals Real Estate Group for the National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF).
540 people from throughout Western Australia attended the Professionals 2010 Pink Ribbon Breakfast last Friday 22 October at the Burswood Convention Centre with the event raising more than $60,000.
According to David Hobbs, CEO of Professionals Real Estate Group, the 2010 Pink Ribbon Breakfast was the most successful to date and thanked everyone who attended.
“The huge success of the 2010 Pink Ribbon Breakfast coincided with the same week that our fundraising efforts were recognised at the Australian Commercial Radio Awards (ACRAs). Professionals Real Estate Group in conjunction with Red Wave Media suggested that Perth regional radio station, RED FM, change its name for one week last year to “Pink FM” as part of a fundraising drive for the NBCF. For this wonderful initiative, Red FM won the ACRA category for Best Australian Community Based Project during 2010. This ‘Pink FM’ initiative along with other fundraising efforts helped professionals to raise over $137,000 during 2009/2010 for the NBCF. Overall, Professionals throughout Australia have donated more than $2 million to the NBCF since the group adopted it as our charity of choice. The success of Professionals fundraising efforts for the NBCF is dependent on the support of community groups such as RED FM and the sponsors of our annual Pink Ribbon Breakfast. As a group we fully appreciate this support and thank everyone for their support over the past year to raise much needed funds for the NBCF. These funds are desperately required to assist in the fight against breast cancer. Every day in Australia, more than 30 women discover they have breast cancer and it is the most common cancer diagnosed in women aged over 35 years. It is estimated that one in nine women will be diagnosed with this disease in their lifetime and more than 2,600 will die in a single year. Breast cancer is the second most common cause of cancer death in females after lunch cancer,” he said.
